About Me:

I love working with people to help them figure out what’s been going on to cause their distress, but also to help come up with effective strategies to make things better.

I particularly enjoy working with people going through difficult life transitions, such as the loss of a job or a relationship, starting a new job or relationship, going through a health issue or financial difficulty, becoming a parent, or just trying to generally figure out what direction (or new direction) to take in life.

I also really enjoy working with anxiety issues, including stress, panic attacks, phobias, addictions, and past trauma. Most people need better coping skills to deal with these issues, and it’s rewarding to watch them learn and implement these skills in therapy and start feeling better!

If you’re someone who struggles with any of these issues, you know you can get through them but you need some help or guidance, and you’re ready to do the work, you came to the right place! Get in touch with me by calling or texting me, email me, or just schedule an appointment now – I would love to get connected and start working with you.

Education & Experience:

I obtained my Master’s Degree in Counseling from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wayne State University.

I have over 10 years of experience with a wide range of clients in various treatment settings.  These settings have included home based, inpatient, residential and outpatient. Most of my work experience has been with adolescents and adults.  I also have worked with families and couples.

I work with individuals, couples, and families deal with a variety of issues, including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety/Stress
  • Relationship problems
  • Addictions
  • Self-esteem issues
  • Christian counseling
  • Trauma

Philosophy & Approach:

I put a lot of value in the therapeutic relationship.  I believe this relationship needs to have trust, open communication, and high level of comfort in order for therapy to work. During our time together, I want to convey authenticity, empathy, and provide a non-judgmental place for you to be able engage in therapy.  My hope for therapy, and our time together, is for you to start to become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, behaviors and beliefs. By doing this you will start the process of empowering yourself towards a whole healthy person. I also believe balance in life is needed, and often times we lose this balance.  Together we can explore ways to regain sense of self and establish balance.

I am very eclectic in my approach to therapy, often drawing from many evidence based modalities, not one particular.  I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy and Trauma Informed Care.

Personal Life:

When I am not working I love spending time with family, exercising and watching sports.
